What is actually holding things up

Your solicitor is waiting for a pack of documents about the building — service charges, safety information and the accounts — which has to come from the company that manages Calverley Wharf. We asked for it on 14 July and chased it on 29 July and 12 August.

This is normal for a flat and it is nobody's fault, but it is slow, and your mortgage offer has a deadline. We are on it, and you do not need to do anything.

Why the deadline matters. A mortgage offer does not last forever. Yours runs out on 2 September. If we get past that we would have to apply again, and the 4.29% rate you were given in June is no longer available — so it would very likely cost you more each month. That is why we are chasing hard.

If your move runs past early September we may need fresh payslips and statements, because lenders only accept them for three months. We will ask if it comes to that.

Daniel is self-employed, so there is no sick pay behind him. We are not going to nag you about it during a house move, but it is on the list for when you have moved in.
